Why This Programme Exists

Across our Madrasahs, there are many sincere individuals who want to teach and serve the Deen. Many of them have knowledge, passion and good intentions. But teaching children requires more than good intentions. A Madrasah teacher needs to understand children, manage a classroom, explain clearly, nurture character, safeguard pupils, work with parents and represent the Deen with professionalism. Many teachers enter the classroom without a structured pathway to help them develop these skills.

The Professional Certificate in Madrasah Teaching & Learning has been created to address this need. It is designed to support aspiring and existing Madrasah teachers through training, practical experience, supervised placement, assessment and continued development, so that our children are taught by teachers who are confident, competent and rooted in Khidmah, Amānah and Tarbiyyah.

Teaching in a Madrasah is a form of Khidmah and an Amānah. Before developing teaching skills, this programme develops the mindset, character and responsibility of the educator.
