We've answered some of the most common questions to help you better understand the Professional Certificate in Madrasah Teaching & Learning.
1. Who is this programme designed for?
The programme is designed for existing Madrasah teachers, aspiring teachers, Darul Uloom graduates and others who wish to develop the knowledge, practical skills and professionalism required to teach effectively in today's Madrasah.
2. Do I need teaching experience?
No. The programme is suitable for both new and experienced teachers. Whether you are preparing to teach for the first time or looking to strengthen your existing practice, the programme provides a structured pathway for professional development.
3. Do I need to be an 'Ālim or 'Ālimah?
No. While many participants may be Darul Uloom graduates, the programme is open to anyone with a suitable foundation in Islamic studies who meets the entry requirements.
The Professional Certificate in Madrasah Teaching & Learning is delivered over six months, combining professional learning with practical classroom experience.

5. How is the programme delivered?
The programme is delivered through a blended learning approach, combining weekly online professional learning sessions, three on-site intensive training days and a 30-hour supervised teaching placement. Weekly sessions are approximately 90 minutes in duration and are designed to fit around the commitments of working teachers.
For Madrasahs wishing to enrol groups of teachers, a tailored delivery model may also be available. Please contact us to discuss your requirements.
6. Is the teaching placement compulsory?
Yes. All participants are required to complete a 30-hour supervised teaching placement as part of the Professional Certificate.
7. How will I be assessed?
Participants demonstrate their professional competence through practical teaching, a professional portfolio, a supervised teaching placement, a professional conversation and consistent professional engagement throughout the programme.
8. What qualification will I receive?
Participants who successfully complete all programme requirements will be awarded the Professional Certificate in Madrasah Teaching & Learning.
Throughout the programme, participants build a Professional Portfolio that demonstrates their development as a Madrasah teacher. This may include lesson plans, reflections, mentor feedback, teaching observations, professional discussions and other evidence of classroom practice.

10. Do I need to find my own teaching placement?
Where possible, participants are encouraged to complete their placement within their own Madrasah. If this is not possible, Madrasah Consultancy will endeavour to help arrange a suitable placement through our network of partner Madrasahs.
11. What if I can't find a teaching placement?
If you are unable to secure a placement, please speak to us as early as possible. We will work with you to explore suitable placement opportunities through our partner Madrasahs. While we cannot guarantee availability in every location, we are committed to supporting participants wherever possible.
12. What happens if I miss a session?
Participants are expected to attend all scheduled sessions. Where exceptional circumstances arise, we will work with you to ensure you can continue progressing through the programme. Full attendance requirements will be outlined before the programme begins.
