After completing my Ḥifẓ and ʿĀlimiyyah studies at a reputable Darul Uloom in the UK, I had the honour of teaching at the same institute for eight years. This time gave me more than just experience, it rooted me in the traditions of Islamic scholarship, connected me with dedicated teachers and students, and deepened my love for serving the ummah through knowledge.

Mainstream Educational Experience

I then began teaching in both primary and secondary schools, gaining valuable insight into how mainstream education works. During this time, I completed my formal teaching qualification, which strengthened my classroom practice and management skills. I also went on to complete a BA and MA in Islamic Education, and I am currently pursuing an MBA. These experiences have helped me connect Islamic tradition with modern teaching methods and leadership approaches, so I can better serve our madrasahs today.

Imam & Madrasah Leadership

When I took on the role of Imam and Head of Education at a local masjid, our madrasah was small, just three classes, around 60–70 students, and two staff members. There was no set curriculum or clear system in place. With Allah’s help, we began building step by step, introducing structure, resources, and a shared vision. Over time, we saw the madrasah grow in numbers, quality, and community trust.

Community Engagement & Reflection

Alongside teaching and leadership, I’ve worked closely with the youth and wider community, listening to their concerns, understanding their challenges, and creating opportunities for learning and personal growth. This connection has helped ensure that our madrasah remains relevant, supportive, and responsive to the needs of Muslim families today.

By Allah’s grace, the madrasah has grown far beyond what we first imagined, now serving over 600 students across more than 30 classes, including four Ḥifẓ classes, a male and female ʿĀlimiyyah course, adult learning programmes, and much more. This growth has been made possible by a dedicated team of over 40 staff and volunteers, a clear curriculum, and systems designed to support both teachers and learners.

Transformation & Growth
Vision Beyond Memorisation

I believe a madrasah’s role goes beyond helping students complete their Qur’an or progress in memorisation. Our responsibility is to nurture strong character, a confident Islamic identity, and the skills to live as practising Muslims in today’s world. By focusing on both spiritual and personal development, we aim to prepare students not just for exams, but for life.

Over the years, we’ve introduced key changes to our systems, structure, and curriculum to ensure the madrasah meets both traditional and modern needs. This has included clear policies, consistent teacher support, and a curriculum that balances sacred knowledge with practical application, all while keeping the essence of our Islamic tradition at the heart of everything we do.

Consultancy & Support

Over the years, I’ve supported madrasahs and makātib across the UK and abroad with staff training, curriculum design, leadership coaching, and resource planning. My approach is practical and tailored, recognising that every madrasah is unique in its strengths, challenges, and community. I believe improvement doesn’t have to take decades; with the right guidance, significant progress can be achieved in just a few years, inshāAllāh.
